Goals

When Mike and I moved into our house over a year ago, we set goals for upgrades on the house. I am blessed to say that we crossed one more off the list...the siding. I'll post a completed photo soon. So in this short time, we reroofed the house, paved the drive, built a retaining wall and new patio, painted the garages, added another storage building, put in a garden site, completed some small landscaping projects and of course sided the house. Wow! makes me tired just reading the list.
I've kept lists of goals all my life. At the beginning of each year (for about 3yrs now), my friend Cathy and I make a list of 10 goals for the year. The first year I did this, one of my goals was to let go of "looking for" a spouse. After being divorced for almost 20 years and longing for someone to spend my life with, I realized that God was all I needed. It was great to have that pressure taken off of my shoulders and handed over to the one who knows all....and by the fall of that year, Mike came into my life. Praise God.
But if you go to your Bible and read the section of Philippians (to be exact Phil 3) you will find the only goal you need for life....Jesus. We will never achieve all the goals we set down for ourselves and even Paul says "not that I have already attained it (being conformed to Christ)".....but "I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
So don't give up setting goals for youself! But don't overlook the one goal that is MOST important for us....Jesus.
Have a safe and fun Labor Day friends.
