Hi friends....It’s Mike and Pam with Highlights of 2007.
It’s been a relatively quiet year but we did manage to achieve some goals, get in a few trips and have an exiting piece of news.
Pam began working at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center of WVU Hospital at the first of the year and it’s her dream job! Working only 2 days per/wk, Pam is able to work with some great people, minister to some really sick patients, and see God at work in her life thru her job. Mike, on the other hand, continues to struggle with his job at the US Postal Service. There are few workers, unfair practices, and poor management of which he has no control over. A lot of extra work is dumped on Mike and it becomes very stressful at times....especially during the holiday season.
This third year of marriage has been really good. Pam has the time to make a peaceful refuge of our home so that Mike can get some escape from the chaos of work. Mike is a strong leader of our marriage and his love and support is essential to Pam. We’ve managed to get some work done around the house: new siding, new patio, vegetable garden, landscaping. Seems like a lot, but there is always more to do. Pam’s taken up the hobby of making cards with rubber stamps. It’s been a fun and interesting way for her to use her creative energy!
We got a couple trips to some WV State Parks in this year. One to Watoga State Park in the spring and one to Blackwater Falls/Canaan Valley area in the fall. The camping, hiking, biking and quiet time was wonderful! Pam took a week to visit her sister in Florida and another long weekend to visit her son in Georgia. Mike was able to get some trips on the water...guiding on the Gauley river a couple times, one trip on the Cheat and a very cold trip on the New River in mid November with his buddy Dave.
We’ve been involved in a wonderful Home Group thru our church. It consists of 5 couples studying about encouraging each other. It’s been amazing. In addition, we’ve had some wonderful teachings by our pastor Tim Haring of Chestnut Ridge Church and our friend Joe Rheney who has been doing extensive studies on 1st John and 1st Peter in our Sunday school class. Last but not least, we are delighted to share that Pam’s son Walt met his future wife this summer while working in Texas. Her name is Annie Elbert and the wedding is set for April 26 in Ft Worth, Texas. We are thrilled and excited for the happy couple. After the wedding they will be residing in San Antonio where Annie has a 2 yr commitment with Young Life and where Walt will be venturing out into the job market to do something new and exciting.
Thanks to all our friends and family for all your love and support. May 2008 be a blessed year for all.
