One week later

I don't have a new photo, but my hubby is healing up nicely. His eye has been the troublesome area due to an infection and some sutures scratching his cornea. He goes back to see the eye doc on Monday and hopefully will get to go back to work on Tues...although he has been just fine being off from the USPS and their craziness. His nose is a purple color but Dr John has assured us that will resolve.
Some of you who know me, know that I tend to be a bit of a crusader at times. I abhor unfairness and ran across that recently when my employer (WVUH) gave RN's a bit of a raise. Yes, I'm an RN, but I am considered a "contract" nurse of which there are many of us at the hospital. It turned out that "contract" nurses were not included in the raise. Believe me when I say, this is not a money issue for me. It's a "being fair" issue. An RN is an RN and if you work in the same place, ALL RN's should be given the same treatment. I only work 3 days per week, but there are other contract nurses who work 5! We all do the same job...we care for sick people. So you get the idea?? So I took my crusade to HR and they couldn't give me an answer as to why there was a distinction. All I wanted to know was how was this decision reached and why was there a difference. At first the HR person got defensive and said that if I wanted more money, I should take a full time position.....she totally missed my point! She finally agreed to "look into it". I emailed my great boss Kathleen, who originally thought I was included in the raise and she too agreed to look into it. Soooooo to make a long story short, HR called yesterday and said that the powers that be are reconsidering the situation and possibly include the contract nurses. Of course nothing is resolved but I do believe completely in the Golden Rule and am thankful that the Lord allows me to crusade for what is right and just. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
Walt is back in Jasper after his 5weeks in Texas running a Wyldlife camp. He's got some great photos (check www.waltmays.com, click enter and then photos) I think he learned a LOT during this time. And I had an answer to prayer....he met a young lady there too. Yippee!
Have a great week. Seek the Lord!
Pam
