The Day after Thanks

Now that Thanksgiving is over, I can take the time to reflect on what a great and "thankful" day it was. The day before was filled with cooking and cleaning. I love it when I have the time to cook and pretend to be Martha Stewart. It was a busy day....from 6am til bedtime. In the middle of the day, I got a package from FedEx. It was 2 dozen beautiful roses from my sweet sister Carolee. Each rose was just perfect and even though my sissy couldn't be here, her presence was felt because of those incredible flowers. Now that our parents have gone to be with the Lord, I hold my sister dear to my heart. Thanks Sis!
And on the big day, I was so thankful for the presence of my Aunt Rosie and my Cousin Carmel along with their spouses and son! Rosie is the only remaining sibling of my dad's family so she has pretty much become my surrogate mom! And my cousin is surely my hero....having gone through breast cancer...she is a nurse practitioner in a cancer center in Virginia. She's one tough cookie and I love her more and more. My Uncle Harold went through a pretty serious brain surgery this summer and after a long and difficult recovery, he's doing so much better! Ken and Colin, my cousin's hubby and son, are an awesome pair...it's been fun getting to know them a little better and I hope our relationship continues to grow strong!
We had a ton of food.....that which I prepared and the additions that my Aunt and Cousin brought. What a blessing to sit in a warm house, with plenty to eat, surrounded by loved ones. Thank you God!
My son called in the afternoon from the Atlanta airport, waiting for his flight to see his dad. It's been a year since they've been together and I know that Bob is thoroughly excited to be seeing his son after all that time. I'm thankful for the good relationship they have. Walt and his dad are celebrating Thanksgiving today (Friday) and I know they will have a blessed time. I get to see Walt and Annie (his fiance) for Christmas so I'm thankful and excited for that.
Last but not least, I'm thankful for my dear hubby Mike. He works so hard at his job with the postal service and they give their employees nothing but grief. I pray daily that he would be in a position where he would be appreciated for his hard work. I can't imagine being in a job where no one thanks you! Well sweetie, I thank you! You're the best. And when it comes to entertaining, we make a great team. I do all the cooking and cleaning BEFORE.....and he cleans up AFTER! What a guy!
If you're reading my post...I thank you and want you to know how much I appreciate your interest. God bless you and be with you!
