Time to catch up; dress rehearsal

I was told by several people today at the Beckwith/Zink wedding that I have been remiss in keepin up with my blog. And they are so right. I've been a slug. I've been self absorbed. I have just preferred to wallow in my own self pity. You see, next week is my son's wedding. My only child is getting married. And boy have I been having a pitty party. I decided to use today as a trial run, so to speak. I got all dressed up...even wore the high heels I've been dreading to wear. They weren't so bad. I wore them for 5 hours straight without falling....though I did have a couple near miss slides at the reception.
So I paid close attention to the groom's mom. She seemed very composed and relaxed. I notice she had a tissue in her hand during the vows, but I never saw her shed a tear! I was amazed!! What's wrong with this woman? She listened intently as the pastors spoke and as the ceremony progressed. At the reception, she bustled about. During this time of observation, my friend Debbie Christie came over to chat about this and that, especially the upcoming wedding. She reminded me that God's hand was visible in Walt and Annie's upcoming nuptials. And also in my own marriage to Mike! We talked about how selfish we can be when it comes to praising God! How little credit we give Him. Boy did it ever become clear to me....It's Not About ME!!!! My daily walk is about God; all I do is about God; my son's wedding is about God and how He brought those 2 kids together. It's time for me to give God some praise for this joyous occasion that is coming up in exactly one week. What a lifting of a great burden! I think I can actually enjoy myself instead of feeling sorry for myself. I think I can thank God that I'm not losing a son but am gaining the daughter I always wanted. I am now going to look forward to this with excitement instead of anxiety. My husband will be so happy now that I've realized all this! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Amy and Corey.....may God bless you both on this new journey!
