Nothing ventured, nothing gained

In one of my past posts, I talked about my desire to quit my job. The long and the short of it was the fact that I have a great job, only working 2 days/week and if I were to cut back more, it would be God's will, not mine. So, the past few weeks I've been getting called off on one of my 2 days and this week I was actually called off both days! In talking with my supervisor, it seems that right now, staffing is high and they just don't need the contract nurses as much (my friend Nina has been called off also, which is not good, but another story). So now I'm down to 1 day/wk, not of my own hands but of Gods. Thank you Lord! With much more time on my hands, I've been considering what to do with that. Over the past year, I've gotten interested in making cards and gifts using rubber stamping techniques. The company I've purchased my supplies from is called Stampin' UP! and the woman who has taught me about it is my friend Sue. In March, Stampin' Up! had a promo for new demonstrators. I can't tell you how many of my friends encouraged me to go for it. I was very hesitant because I'd previously been a consultant for Mary Kay Products and managed to get myself into a lot a debt as a result. But the good thing about Stampin up is that I'd already been purchasing the products over the past year and had accumulated quite a bit and also, you don't have to have a supply of the product in stock to sell. In fact, a lot of what is encouraged about stamping is the fellowship, the fun of getting together and being creative....the product clearly sells itself. The photos are samples of what I've been doing. After I get back from Walt's wedding, I plan to start being a bit more productive and proactive in getting the product out there. The owner of the salon where I get my hair done is interested in using the products to complement her business. I made all the favors for Walt and Annie's wedding so I could do that again for others. But my desire is to get a core group of ladies who would like to just hang out once a month, learn something new and create some cool cards and gifts. Let me know if you're interested!
