Flowers, Corn and other bits of nature

Well today is Monday...almost the end of July. So hard to believe. Monday's are Mike's "saturday" since he works most Saturdays. We've been working outside since it's gotten overcast and not as hot as earlier today. We decided to paint the cement blocks of our foundation. Man, it's amazing what a coat of paint will do. The blocks looked really nasty and now it looks almost like a new house (LOL).
After I finished my part of the job, I decided to take a few pics of what's going on in the yard. Of course there's Mike under the steps, finishing the front of the foundation. You can see some marigolds that I planted last year and they loved it so much they decided to come up on their own this year. And then you can see a small butterfly enjoying the blossoms of our big butterfly bush. As for food, I noticed that my corn is beginning to put out some ears....not many but you can see a baby one with the silky tassle. Did you know that there is one strand of cornsilk for every kernal of corn on the ear? I just read that somewhere! And last but not least there is my patio tomatos....though the vine is starting to wither, the tomatos are ripening fast! Yum-O!
Hopefully I'll have some wonderful pics of our Big Bear Camp in the next week or so. And stay posted for pics from San Antonio...I leave 8/7 and return 8/13. It's my first visit with Walt and Annie since the wedding and I'm really looking forward to it!

Your tomatoes look good! Mine got baked while I was out of town and are dead now. :(
